granted to construct subterranean tunnels only, are found to be

rich in ore, no mining operation shall be undertaken, unless the

necessary mining licence has been secured. The holder of the

120 persit to construct the tunnel shall be entitled to be first

offered the privilege of mining the lots and any application of others for mining the same will be notified him and will not be

granted until his refusal of the offer has been received or 3

months have elapsed after the notification, in case he gives no reply. Anybody who has been ranted perission to mine the lots

shall still have no right to damage, alter or interfere with the

tunnel, unless with the consent of the omer.

Regulation 41. The contractor for any mining work shall submit before the 10th, of every month a report in triplicate in an approv -ed form of all the work done and the number of men employed during the previous month.

Regulation 42. The forms of report may be obtained from the Mining Affairs Deputy on application.

Remulation 43. The Comissioner of Industry may from time to time- require a special report of any particulars as regards mining to be

made to him.

Re ulation 44. On receipt of any reports made under Regulations 41 and 43, the lining Affairs Deputy shall after verification, return

one copy to the presenter, forward one to the Commissioner of In-

-dustry, and keep the remaining one on file. Any concealment of

any particular and agy false statement made on purpose will be

subject to punishment.

Regulation 45. Every mine-owner whether Chinese or foreigner, shall

keep two account books -Money account books (2) ore account book, which shall be submitted at the end of the year to the mining Affairs Deputy for inspection. He shall also keep a Loney Draft Book and an ore draft book and also a record of the various pro-

-perties, articles etc., with their costs. These books should all

be in the form approved by the Commissioner of Industry. Regulation 46. Every mine-owner shall make two copies of the original plan made by the Surveyor and mark on them the particulars

as regards the superficial and the subterranean work already done
